About Me, Your Coach

Before I became a Master Certified Life Coach, I remember feeling inside that there was something “more” I wanted but I had no idea what that “more” was.

The reality is women of color have a tremendous amount of pressure to succeed in the corporate world. The burden of these expectations comes from everywhere. I know, I was there. My life and work on the outside looked satisfying until I realized I was sacrificing pieces of myself. I was missing something deeper. I was missing meaning.

So, I set about creating more purpose in my own life and work, and now I help other women do the same.

Master Certified Life Coach

I’m a Master Certified Life Coach. I studied in a 7-month intensive training program through Martha Beck, Inc (MBI). I’ve spent hundreds of hours coaching individuals of all ages and vocations helping them find more purpose in their lives.

In addition to my coaching practice, I also offered individual life coach sessions through a Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) community-led health and wellness center. I coached young adults, women in corporate, non-profits, small business and entrepreneurs who wanted clarity and more meaning in their lives.

In my early years of personal development, I thought of myself as a seeker of truth. With 20+ years of exploration, I no longer consider myself a seeker. Now, I focus my personal development on learning new skills so that I can better help my clients.

Experienced, Trusted Professional

I spent 20+ years as a professional in the corporate world. I worked across a variety of industries — financial services, tech, consumer goods, and academia and am well-versed in the challenges women of color face in the corporate world.

I’m a team builder, earning the respect of and trust of those I worked with. Even though I wasn’t a coach at the time, people sought me out for advice, guidance and recommendations and I used my skills at reading the room. Today, I bring my understanding of the realities of working for large corporations and being a woman of color and the pressures we face to help my clients.

I was known as someone who asked the smart questions and took a big picture approach to the work at hand. All this helps me help you — I can assess what you’re facing at work, know the realities and how hard they seem and also know a different way.

In my corporate days, I mentored colleagues as the Co-President of the Administrative Council. And, post my corporate days, I continue to mentor entrepreneurs in service-based businesses.

I also have a passion for special events, workshops and retreats. I’ve planned and co-led workshops in my corporate roles as well as for self-discovery programs. This included both strategic planning along with content development, such as developing exercises for creative self-expression (movement and the spoken word).

MY SELF-LOVE RITUALS

01

Asking for help when I need it

02

Listening or reading novels for healthy escapism

03

Committing to growth and evolving

04

Going on walks alone or with my pups

*I'm learing how to ask for help to support my sovereignty. My intention is to heal from a dominate culture that doesn't support, acknowledge or accept me. I have a healing team to remind me of my purpose (a community of true friends, practitioners and I acknowledge the privilege of having a therapist). I'm cultivating a community and it's a total love affair.

Before I became a Certified Life Coach, I remember feeling inside that there was something “more” I wanted but I had no idea what that “more” was.

I knew early on it wasn’t about my job.

And yet, there were many, many times I was determined to succeed by earning more money, working with teams that respected me, and pursuing certifications to go for the next promotion.

The reality is women of color have a tremendous amount of pressure to succeed in the corporate world. The burden of these expectations comes from everywhere. From society, the culture, our families and colleagues, and from ourselves. There’s an expectation that you should just handle and endure anything that comes your way with strength.

Why I do this work

And it can be crushing. I know, I was there.

My life and work on the outside looked satisfying until I realized there was extreme pressure to fit in, adapt and excel at work. I was sacrificing pieces of myself. I had lots of shiny objects — dinners out, travel, a lovely living space and a “good job” with a five-figure bonus. But I was missing something deeper.

I was missing meaning.

I got help from a Life Coach, and then later I undertook intensive training. I identified what I’m good at, what I’m passionate about and how I could be of service. I discovered that meaning means something different for everyone. And, I uncovered what joy looked like for me. And then I set about creating more meaning in my own life and work.

That’s why I want to help women in the corporate world who are looking for more meaning.

I want to support you in that journey. I want to provide you with a space that’s safe to explore dreams, to be open and vulnerable, to be creative and collaborative. I want to help you discover what brings you meaning and then support you while you go out and get it.

More About Me

I’m a fan of sci-fi and scary movies. Recently I discovered I’m a foodie and not just a picky eater, I’m a dog lover — I’m a dog mama to two chihuahua mixes and a dog foster mama for a dog rescue that is close to my heart.

Travel has fed my soul since childhood — people are the wonder of my world. I haven’t met an ocean that I haven’t loved and I love good conversation and crave collaboration and community. And, Rumi poetry rocks my world.

“Don't be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others.

Unfold your own myth.”
