Are You Looking for

More Meaning?

Finding Meaning

It’s Sunday afternoon and the feeling of dread starts to creep into your thoughts knowing that Monday morning will be here too soon and you’ll be back to work in the office or online.

You’ve probably been in your career for +10 years. Maybe you’ve been promoted more than once. You're likely making decent money. You might even say you’re comfortable,
but not satisfied.

As a woman of color, you’ve finally made it.

You’ve got a good corporate career. You’ve proven yourself. You have the credentials. Shouldn’t you just be happy?

You’re expected to be strong. Resilient. Patted on the back for how well you’re fighting
to get ahead.

The truth is though you’re tired of being strong.

And, you’re questioning the way that things are in your life or how they’ve been. You find yourself wondering is this it? Is this all there is?

The thing is, you’re missing something.

You might not be sure what it is. But it feels like you’re missing meaning, or purpose or maybe just something that gets you energized for the day.

You’ve probably tried lots of things.

Maybe you’ve gone back to school, earned a certification or two or taken other training. You have or had mentors to guide you in your career as a means to better yourself.

You may have already read a stack of books to get to know yourself better...you know the ones with tips and strategies for job fulfillment. They might include personality tests or how to find your strengths so you can align yourself to the work environment or land on the right team.

Or maybe you tried other things like volunteering or raising your hand for committee assignments or forming a book club at work, all in the hopes of finding more meaning in your career.

You’ve probably attempted some of these or a whole bunch of other things...but there are reasons why you still feel like you’re missing something.

And, it’s not because you haven’t efforted enough.

The first thing to know is you don’t need to ‘better yourself.’ Finding meaning and purpose at work isn’t dependent on how many degrees you have or the latest training(s) you’ve attended. It’s also not simply about aligning your personality with a specific team or tasks that will bring you meaning.

Books on meaning and purpose are wonderful. Inspirational even, but the reality is it’s hard to see yourself clearly. And making changes alone can be difficult.

That’s why I created The Finding Meaning at Work Coaching program.

Client Experience

“Bettina holds space with a glowing energy that makes you feel heard and cared for. In my sessions with her, she gave me space to dive deep while also challenging me to find ways to bring forward my discoveries into actionable, useful steps.

When I leave a session, I always feel encouraged and ready to move forward!”

Asking for Help

It’s OK to ask for help.

I know, you’ve probably heard that one before. But I’m guessing a part of you doesn’t believe it.

You’ve been taught to just not complain about a problem. In fact, at work you’re supposed to bring three solutions to figure it out, fix it, monitor progress and make it better. It’s the first thing you learn in your corporate career.

And as a woman of color, the pressure to be flawless is tremendous. You feel you have to be more qualified and more credentialed than anyone in the room to prove your value.

And asking for help can feel like a weakness. I get it, and I’m here to tell you that in reality, it can be the difference between striving or thriving.

“My results from working with Bettina as my coach have given me the opportunity to check in with myself and set mini goals. As a businesswomen it’s easy for me to get side tracked and overwhelmed, with certain aspects of my business, she gave me simple reminders and goals to achieve my deadlines that I had for myself.

It’s easy to put projects or issues on the back burner if you need help to redirect or have fresh eyes on your issues, I highly recommend Bettina!”

Who is This Program For?

This program is for those who identify as women of color in the corporate world and who are looking for meaning in their lives but struggle with how to get there.

  • Are several years into your profession and are feeling disillusioned

  • Find yourself questioning what’s next

  • Realize you are bored with your current profession

  • Feel exhausted trying to prove yourself at work and starting to question whether it’s all worth it

  • Remember when you used to have an avenue for self-expression or a creative outlet — but you seem to have lost it

  • Find yourself trying to fill your life with travel, fashion, food or other pursuits but still feel empty

  • Would love to consider another job or a different career but think you should be grateful for all you’ve accomplished

This program is also for you if you:

Don’t have time — Personal change takes intention and commitment. And, it takes time. If you can’t dedicate the time to make our meetings consistently and spend time between sessions with what we’re working on, it just might not be the right time to focus on this

Are looking to improve your resume — This work is about finding meaning, in whatever way speaks to you. In the sessions, we explore under the surface and dive deep, we question. This is more than an exercise of jazzing up your credentials for another promotion

Want someone to tell you what to do — I believe everyone has their own innate wisdom. You might not have discovered it yet, or know how to regularly access it, and that’s part of the work we’ll do together. If, on the other hand, you just want someone to tell you what to do, we probably aren’t a good fit

Who is This Program Not For?

My coaching isn’t for everyone.

This program probably isn’t for you if you:

Change can and does appear to happen suddenly. However, in my experience, internal changes often require time and a touch of patience. Patience with the process and patience with yourself. Self-compassion and kindness are essential during all of this.

Consider the wisdom of Einstein “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”.

Thought patterns are like grooves on a record, and you’ll need space and creativity to shift your thinking to create a new song.

There may be times during or after a coaching session where you find it challenging to tap into your own wisdom or insight. That’s OK. I’ll gently meet you where you are — knowing time is a benefit and time is a friend in your search for meaning.

Making Time for Change

I know hiring a Life Coach can be scary. You’re essentially saying you’re not happy with the ways things are going and you need a change. You may even worry that by going through this process, you’ll end up having to leave your job.

The thing is, working with me doesn’t come with a prescribed outcome. Any way that you find more meaning and purpose for yourself has to feel good to you, or it won’t work.

People often assume the best and only way to find meaning and purpose is through your job. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn’t. It can be found anywhere though — through salsa dancing, learning to sing or write music or meditating.

In working with me, you’ll be exploring opportunities and allowing space to uncover and nurture what brings more meaning to you. You are unique, one of a kind, magnificent.

And, as a Life Coach, I don’t make anyone do anything. The choices you make are ones that come from your own innate wisdom.

Your Current Job and the Search for Meaning

Client Experience

Bettina is an extremely warm-hearted coach to work with. She's able to effectively use her empathy, intuition, and coaching skills to connect and work with her clients. I'd say her ability to really listen to what a person is saying during a session has allowed me to view situations and outcomes from a different perspective.

I've been able to make more mindful decisions in some pretty tough work and personal situations based upon my work with Bettina. She's also very personable and makes me feel very at ease whenever I've worked with her. I'd highly recommend her as a coach!
